Abandoned Mansion

Themed Cocktail Bar in Sukhumvit

Themed Cocktail Bar $$$ Sukhumvit ★ 4.8

Abandoned Mansion is a Prohibition-era gangster-themed speakeasy tucked beneath The Coach Hotel on Soi Sukhumvit 14, a few minutes' walk from Asok. The room runs close to 190 square metres with six-metre ceilings, velvet chairs, heavy chandeliers and dark wood finished in gold, copper and blue. You reach it by descending into what looks like a private club from a 1930s New York crime film, complete with an upper balcony cigar lounge that overlooks the main floor and the live music stage.

The concept is all-in on storytelling. The cocktail list at Abandoned Mansion reads as a narrative homage to Prohibition-era 'public enemies', split into dedicated chapters for male and female gangsters, and the kitchen serves what the bar calls 'mob food'. Jazz bands play nightly, usually young Bangkok groups who layer jazz with funk, hip-hop and R&B rather than sticking to straight standards. With a 4.8 rating across more than 6,600 Google reviews, it has become one of the busier themed cocktail bars in Sukhumvit, Bangkok.

What to Expect

You enter through The Coach Hotel on Sukhumvit 14 and head downstairs into the main room. Staff in period-styled uniforms walk you to a velvet chair at a low table or to seats around the central bar. The lighting is dim, the music is live from around 8pm onward, and the crowd skews 30s and 40s, a mix of Bangkok regulars, hotel guests and visiting cocktail travellers. Prices sit in the upper range for Sukhumvit bars, which fits the setting.

Order from the 'public enemies' menu first, then move to the mob food list if you want to eat. The cigar lounge on the balcony is worth asking about if you want a quieter view over the band. Reservations are a good idea on Friday and Saturday, when the main floor fills early and the balcony gets claimed fast.

Highlights

The John Dillinger pours North American whisky over popcorn with D.O.M. Benedictine and a red vermouth reduction, a savoury, nutty drink that reads as a grown-up old fashioned. Al Capone is built on straight bourbon fat-washed with Italian salami, then rounded out with Italian bitter and Drambuie for something closer to a cured, herbal Manhattan. On the lighter side, Bonnie and Clyde mixes American dry gin with Moscato grape, lemon and violet bitter. The female chapter of the menu brings two of the more theatrical serves: Kathryn Kelly and Stephanie St. Clair both arrive in bespoke glassware designed specifically for those drinks. From the mob food kitchen, Caviar Crime, Spaghetti Lobster and The Godfather Wagyu Burger are the three dishes staff push first, with a Grilled Rack of Lamb for larger tables.

Location & Access

Abandoned Mansion sits on Soi Sukhumvit 14 inside The Coach Hotel, roughly a five to seven minute walk from BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit. The soi runs off Sukhumvit Road between Terminal 21 and the Asok intersection, so a Grab drop at the hotel entrance is the easiest option late at night. Doors open at 5:30pm daily and close at 2am.
