26 venues. Every one names a live band, a live music night or a jazz slot in its own description.
A DJ is not a band, and most lists of live music in Bangkok quietly pretend otherwise. This page counts a venue only when its own description names people playing instruments: a live band, a live music night, a jazz slot, a rotating stage programme. Rooms whose entire music offer is a DJ booth are left out, which removes the city's electronic clubs from the page entirely.
Six of the twenty-six are bars built around a stage. Smalls runs live jazz from Wednesday through the weekend in a three-level Suan Phlu shophouse with an absinthe programme. Nunglenlen puts Thai cover bands on seven nights a week on the corner of Ekkamai 5. TERRA books three bands and three DJs a night on Thonglor 10, and HAUS keeps a dedicated live music room alongside its rooftop terrace.
Three more are club lounges where the house band, rather than the dance floor, is the draw. The remaining seventeen are bars and restaurants with a regular slot: Ekamai Beer House on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, SSDD on Fridays in Silom, The White Mulberry on Wednesdays, Sirocco with a jazz band nightly sixty-three floors above the river. Each entry says which night, where the venue's own description gives one.
A venue appears here only if its own record names live musicians: a live band, live music, live jazz, live acts or a stage programme. A venue whose music is described only as a DJ set does not qualify, however loud the room.
This counts what each venue says about itself, not a schedule. Programmes change, so a night named here may have moved. Nine of the twelve nightclubs in the directory are absent by design, because none of them describes a live act; the three that programme house bands are listed above. Nothing on this page is ordered by a rating.
Six venues the directory files as live music bars, where the programme is the product rather than an add-on.
A Greco-Roman set of sculpted columns and crimson light on Soi Thong Lo, split into a rooftop terrace, an indoor lounge and a dedicated live music room. Bands cover R&B, soul, pop and jazz early, then Thonglor DJs take the booth.
A long-running one-room bar on the corner of Soi Ekkamai 5 with Thai cover bands seven nights a week, working through local favourites and global singalongs. Its own advice is to arrive before 10pm for a table.
A gastropub inside the Aqua Project complex on Phahonyothin Road, with weekend sets from 8pm and Thai acts dropping in midweek. Imported draft beer and a kitchen that moves between Thai dishes and steak.
Three levels of a converted Suan Phlu shophouse with live jazz Wednesday through the weekend, a rooftop terrace with its own bar, and an absinthe programme at the centre of the cocktail list rather than the edge of it.
A second-floor room off Soi Thonglor booking three live bands and three DJs a night from 7pm until close, with setlists leaning to Thai hits. A Thai-Western fusion kitchen runs alongside the stage.
An old-Hollywood lounge at the entrance to Silom Soi 2 with nightly vocalists from around 8.30pm working through 1990s British pop, rock and R&B. Generous pours and an all-day kitchen.
Three lounges that programme house bands rather than a resident DJ lineup, with seating around a stage instead of a standing dance floor.
A Thonglor lounge built around a live band stage, with multiple house acts rotating through the week and DJs filling the gaps between sets. Private soundproofed KTV rooms and a cigar lounge alongside.
An Ekkamai club lounge whose main floor rotates live band and coyote show sets of Western and Thai hits, with private KTV rooms off to the side. Ekkamai zoning enforces a hard 2am close.
Three floors on Soi Cowboy, steps from BTS Asok. A live band works through pop, rock and Thai covers on the first floor nightly from around 6pm with no door charge, then DJs take the third-floor club from 9.
Seventeen venues whose main business is drinks or dinner and which programme live musicians on named nights.
A Prohibition-era gangster-themed speakeasy below The Coach Hotel on Soi Sukhumvit 14, built around a live music stage under six-metre ceilings, with a balcony cigar lounge looking down on it. Jazz bands play nightly from around 8pm, usually young Bangkok groups who layer jazz with funk, hip-hop and R&B.
Twenty-eighth floor of Hyatt Place Sukhumvit 24. Sunday Sessions start at 3pm with cocktail pitchers and live music, on top of a daily 5 to 7 happy hour and a cocktail list at 280 baht a drink.
A Hong Kong-styled cocktail bar on the second floor of The Hub Phahol-Ari, running nightly live music with a dance floor that fills late. The band starts around 10pm and the crowd is mixed and LGBTQ+-friendly.
Thirty-ninth floor of The Continent Hotel at Asok, where Friday and Saturday bring DJ sets and live bands and the terrace fills quickly. Modern Thai cooking earlier in the evening.
A natural wine bar on Sukhumvit with DJ sets through the week and live music on Saturdays, plus board games stacked by the seats and a paint-your-own-wine-glass session.
A converted two-storey house on Soi Ari 4 Nua that serves brunch by day and turns into a cocktail bar with live jazz and blues performed nightly.
The Phra Khanong taproom of a Burmese-British brewery founded in Yangon, pouring nearly a dozen unpasteurised house beers. Live music runs four nights a week alongside the football and rugby screens.
Twenty draft taps across a three-storey brick pub in Ekkamai. Live bands play Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights on the music floor, with a free jukebox covering the other evenings.
A 360-degree open-air deck on top of the Heaven Boutique Hotel in Silom Plaza, with a live music rotation and beers from around 120 baht. Open 5pm to 2am every night.
Bangkok's Burmese-themed rooftop above Varindavan Park on Ekkamai 12, with live traditional Burmese music and cultural dance in the evenings alongside Burmese pub snacks and the house Mandalay Sour.
The 1994 original in a century-old teak house off Surawong Road, with garden seating under the mango trees that gave it its name. Traditional Thai music and dance run during peak service, and live traditional music plays through dinner, loud enough to set the mood and quiet enough to talk over.
Twenty-second floor of the Aira Hotel on Sukhumvit 11. It runs as a Mediterranean dining room early, then after 11pm resident DJs and live musicians take over and the terrace gets loud.
A live jazz band plays nightly on the 63rd floor at lebua, alongside a five-course Mediterranean tasting menu. The dress code is strictly enforced.
A Silom cocktail bar with cocktails named after work and relationship stress, and rotating live bands on Fridays over a house soundtrack of soul, R&B and alternative. Buy two get one free before 8pm.
The 24th and 25th floors of Hotel Muse, done as a 1920s Prohibition den behind a hidden staircase. Live bands play Thursday to Saturday from 8pm to 10.45, with curated DJ sets on the other nights.
A ninth-floor whisky and cocktail bar at SILQ Hotel with 52 whiskies, 27 of them single malts, and a cigar balcony. Live jazz every Wednesday, with DJ sets rotating on the other nights.
A speakeasy on Thonglor Soi 23 built around a long fireplace, with DJ sets on Friday and Saturday and rotating live band nights that tip the back of the room toward a party without becoming a club.
Because their programmes, as they describe them, are DJ sets. The directory holds twelve nightclubs. Three of them programme house bands and are listed above; the other nine name only resident and guest DJs, and five of those nine are filed as electronic clubs. A page about hearing a band play is a different question from a page about a dance floor, and mixing the two is what makes most live music lists useless.
Nunglenlen runs Thai bands seven nights a week, White Rabbit has nightly vocalists from around 8.30pm, aiya bkk runs nightly live music, Brooks has live jazz and blues nightly, TERRA books three bands a night, Abandoned Mansion runs jazz bands nightly from around 8pm, and Sirocco has a jazz band every evening. The rest name specific nights, which are given on each entry.
The nights come from each venue's own description rather than from a live listing, so treat them as what the venue says it normally does. Programmes move. Check the venue page for a phone number and confirm before travelling for a specific act.
Weavify reservations are not switched on for any venue on this page, so these have to be contacted directly. Whether a venue accepts a Weavify reservation is set per venue and is shown on that venue's own page, alongside its phone number, address and opening hours.
