Central Bangkok's shopping district spreads its restaurants across five neighbourhoods and five buildings. Gaggan at Louis Vuitton sits on the fifth floor of Gaysorn Amarin and runs a tasting menu ordered from emoji, ranked eighth on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants in 2026. Bankhun Mae moved into MBK Center in 2022 after more than twenty years in Siam Square, and its name translates as Grandmother's Kitchen: pad thai goong sod, massaman, som tum, at a mid-range price.
Two of the five run a split service rather than trading straight through. Paste in Ratchaprasong opens for lunch and again at six, cooking blue swimming crab curry and a heritage tom yum under a chef named Asia's Best Female Chef in 2018. Gaggan at Louis Vuitton does the same, and closes Tuesdays and Wednesdays besides, the only closure on this page.
Water Library in Pathumwan is the European entry, founded in 2009 by a wine and water importer and now cooked by an Austrian chef who came from a Michelin-starred kitchen. Indian Express in Ratchathewi is the cheapest and the latest, a 120-seat room with an open kitchen serving biryani and butter chicken until midnight.
Not open every day: Gaggan at Louis Vuitton (closed Tue and Wed).
